The Shining Tapes is a French band from Grenoble, offering a modern hybrid of energetic rock, melodious pop, captivating electro and cinematic atmospheres.

Vincent Agache and Fred Bonnier are both multi-instrumentalists who work closely together on writing, composing and recording the music. Fred, with his powerful voice and talent for writing, brings the lyrics to life, while Vincent records most of the guitar parts, with an easily identifiable signature sound, plus piano and synths. Their creative process is a constant dialogue, where each brings his expertise to shape the music of The Shining Tapes.

The band's journey began in 2021 with their first single, which quickly attracted the attention of the local press in Grenoble. Following this success, several singles were released, culminating in their first EP in 2023. The EP was a huge success, particularly with the rock anthem 'Modern Romance', which reached over 12,000 plays on Spotify.

The Shining Tapes est un groupe français originaire de Grenoble, qui propose une musique hybride moderne, entre rock énergique, pop mélodieuse, électro captivante et atmosphères cinématiques.

Vincent Agache et Fred Bonnier sont tous deux multi-instrumentistes et collaborent étroitement sur l'écriture, la composition et l'enregistrement de la musique. Fred, avec sa voix puissante et son talent pour l'écriture, donne vie aux paroles, tandis que Vincent enregistre la plupart des parties de guitare, avec un son signature facilement identifiable, de piano et de synthés. Leur processus créatif est un dialogue constant, où chacun apporte son expertise pour façonner la musique de The Shining Tapes.

Le parcours du groupe débute en 2021 avec un premier single, qui attire rapidement l'attention de la presse locale grenobloise. Suite à ce succès, plusieurs singles sont sortis, aboutissant à leur premier EP en 2023. L'EP connaît un succès considérable, notamment grâce à l'hymne rock « Modern Romance », qui a atteint plus de 12 000 écoutes sur Spotify.

Biotechnology researcher by day, passionate musician by night, Vincent Agache explores two worlds where creativity and rigour intertwine. An expert in rapid diagnostics and personalised medicine, he devotes his time outside the laboratory to his family and his true passion: music.

After a three-year American interlude in Boston, where he worked at MIT and honed his jazz skills with Mike Mele (Berklee College of Music), Vincent joined the local scene with the pop/rock band Stuck Stars, spotted by Roland Orzabal (Tears for Fears). Returning to Grenoble in August 2020, he joined Sonovox in October, seduced by the spellbinding compositions and unique sound of Frédéric Bonnier, with whom he shares a deeply connected musical vision.

A versatile musician, Vincent began his career at the age of 7 on the organ, before self-taught piano and guitar, his instruments of choice. Over time, he expanded his musical arsenal to include bass and, more recently, drums. Nurtured on rock and pop, his major influences include David Bowie, Peter Gabriel, Prince and the Beatles, pillars that permeate his artistic DNA.

Having lived in Lille, Tokyo, Boston and Grenoble, his itinerancy has shaped a singular musical identity. He has collaborated with a number of groups dedicated to original pop/rock/electro compositions, including Carpet Crawlers, PepperJelly, Stuck Stars and Sonovox. This rich experience now culminates in The Shining Tapes, where his compositions are reinvented thanks to the creative alchemy developed with Frédéric Bonnier.

With The Shining Tapes, Vincent aims to offer authentic and vibrant musical experiences, between introspection and luminous flights of fancy, supported by bold arrangements and a keen sense of sonic storytelling.

Chercheur en biotechnologies de jour, musicien passionné de nuit, Vincent Agache explore deux mondes où créativité et rigueur s'entrelacent. Expert en diagnostic rapide et en médecine personnalisée, il se consacre, hors du laboratoire, à sa famille et à sa véritable passion : la musique.

Fred, passionate about music since he was a teenager, plunged into the world of music inspired by his favourite bands such as Depeche Mode. He was already writing, singing and experimenting with a variety of sounds and samples, seeking to break down traditional musical boundaries. Between 1991 and 2001, he explored pop and industrial sounds, influenced by the indus scene and Nine Inch Nails in particular, before turning to rock, forming several bands and various projects mixing rock and electro, punk rock and electronic rhythms or ambient and cinematic music.

In 2001, Fred released an album of cinematic industrial music. This dark and varied album once again demonstrated his love for mixing genres and creating immersive soundscapes. He then went on to found a group that would take his sonic experimentation even further, in the company of Carlo Magno, under the name The Antagonists, a protean project ranging from progressive rock to blues and the most unbridled pop. He then officiates as co-composer, multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter. In 2009, he founded the group Sonovox with Grenoble bassist Vincent Tessaire. Sonovox is a UFO on the Grenoble electro-rock scene, combining catchy melodies and progressive rock structures, sometimes recalling the innovative approach of Talk Talk or the dark pop of Depeche Mode. Fred composes most of the songs and writes the lyrics, records almost all the instruments and co-arranges with Vincent Tessaire. They will be joined by a line-up created for the stage in 2019.

With the Shining Tapes, co-created with Vincent Agache in 2021, Fred has finally found the project that allows all of his ideas to take shape. The Shining Tapes is a perfect fusion of pure pop melodies, modern production, lyrical flights of fancy and rock guitar riffs. Fred, with his powerful, melodic voice, evokes influences such as Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) and Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode), while bringing his own unique touch to the arrangements and production. His ability to sing clear high notes adds an extra dimension to their music.

Fred, passionné de musique depuis l'adolescence, plonge dans l'univers musical en s'inspirant de ses groupes favoris tels que Depeche Mode. Il écrit, chante et expérimente déjà avec des sons variés et des samples, cherchant à briser les frontières musicales traditionnelles. Entre 1991 et 2001, il explore des sonorités pop et industrielles, influencé par la scène indus et plus particulièrement Nine Inch Nails, avant de se tourner vers le rock en formant plusieurs groupes et divers projets mêlant rock et electro, punk rock et rythmes électroniques ou musique ambient et cinématique.

En 2001, Fred sort un album de musique cinématique industrielle. Cet album sombre et varié démontre une fois de plus son amour pour le mélange des genres et la création de paysages sonores immersifs. Il fonde ensuite un groupe qui va l'amener à pousser plus loin ses expérimentations sonores, en compagnie de Carlo Magno sous le nom The Antagonists, projet protéiforme, allant du rock progressif au blues et à la pop la plus débridée. Il y officie en tant que co-compositeur, multi-instrumentiste et chanteur/choriste. En 2009, il fonde le groupe Sonovox, avec Vincent Tessaire, bassiste Grenoblois. Sonovox est un ovni de la scène électro-rock de Grenoble, combinant des mélodies accrocheuses et des structures de rock progressif, rappelant parfois l'approche innovante de Talk Talk ou la dark pop de Depeche Mode. Fred compose l'essentiel des morceaux et écrit les textes, enregistre presque tous les instruments et co-arrange avec Vincent Tessaire. Ils seront rejoints par un line up créé pour la scène en 2019.
